So here I am with another freebie and a challenge for you all. I've been doing some thinking that it might be fun to start having some blog contests in order to engage you a little more because you are either A) a very quite bunch or B) your shy so it's time spark some lively conversation and your creativity.
Some of the ideas I have for contests are:
- Name The Kit - I'll post a preview of a new store kit, you help me name it and you get a store coupon to purchase the kit for free
- Creative Activity - I'll give you a piece of WordArt from a new kit, you use it in a layout, provide a preview, the winner will get a store coupon for the entire kit for free
- Theme Usage - I'll post a blog freebie with a theme, you share a comment that corresponds to the theme, the winner will get a version of the freebie in several different colors/styles
- Participate in Scrapable Challenge - When I host a challenge at Scrapable, you participate, I'll share your layout here on my blog, we'll vote on a winner, the winner will get a store coupon for a free kit of your choice.
- WordArt Pack Design - I'll open up a discussion for you to suggest a theme pack, the winning idea will be used to create a WordArt Pack, the winner will receive a store coupon to receive that kit for for free
Here is a preview of tonight's freebie. If you have any ideas for other contests, let me know.
One more piece of business. Today is $1 Wednesday at Scrapable and this kit by Stacey Crossley is included among others. I thought in honor of Earth Day, it would be perfect for your Earth Day layout so I thought I would share the preview. We bought a tree to plant today so if I get the time, I'll post some pictures and maybe even a layout with this great kit. You can see all the $1 Wednesday offerings here.
Hmmm, I am much the same way, not much of a relationship with my mom, have a bit better one with my step-mom but that is tense at times too.
ReplyDeleteBut either way, I love the WA and am hoping my DS feels better about me than I do about my own mother. :-)
Thank you for this word art! I like the ideas of the contest. I visit your blog often, and I'm sorry to say that I'm shy and haven't left many thank yous. You are wonderful for sharing your time and talents! Never forget that!

I miss her more then words can say, but I have grown so much since her passing.

Hi, I'm shy too, but this sounds like fun so here goes!
ReplyDeleteI grew up in a large family (there were us 6 kids and my parents). One year my oldest brother had an idea (he was 19), we'd get 6 red roses and put a little sticker on each stem (one of our names on each) -and gave them to Mom for Mothers Day.
Some of us younger kids took on the older one's chores -in exchange for the cost of the flowers.
I swear, those roses lasted all summer -Mom just beamed every time she walked by them... I'll never forget how happy she was.
Love your wordart!!! Thanks.
GREAT ideas for contests and challenges! :)
ReplyDeletei, too, didn't have the best relationship with my mom, but i do remember when i was really young, we would go to this Park and watch shows on a small stage (one of our relatives was part of the entertainment). they had bingo and many stands to sell food and souvenirs too. i remember spending my allowance to buy my mom salt & pepper shakers each week. each time they would put them in a little box for me. Mom always looked so happy with each gift & she had quite the collection by the end of just one summer! lol
Thanks so very much for sharing this FUN & your WONDERFUL wa!! Have a GREAT day! :)
Thank you so much for this Freebie. I want to let you know that I posted a link to your blog in Creative Busy Hands Scrapbook Freebies Search List, under the Mother's Day post on Apr. 23, 2009. Thanks again.
ReplyDeleteThank you for the great freebie

ReplyDeleteYour work is beautiful, thanks so much for sharing it with us.
ReplyDeleteI don't have a great relationship with my mother but I do with my children...I don't have one special memory as anything they do to tell me they love me makes it special. I love those homemade crafts the ones that only a mother could love.
Your challenges sound great, thanks again for sharing your talent with us.
The best mother's day for me was the first one I celebrated as a grandmother- just a few days after my first grandson was born.
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for sharing your talent with all of us!
My first mother's day was the most special, I believe. I got home from the hospital the day before with my beautiful baby boy. He showed up just "in time" And ironically, he is graduating from college the day before Mother's day this year. I am blessed every day to have him in my life.
ReplyDeleteThis year, I made a 120 page digi scrapped book as his graduation gift - and a copy will go to my mother as her mother's day gift.
He has honored me in so many ways throughout his life - it makes EVERY day feel like Mother's Day.
My special memory of Mother's Day is the first year my daughter was in preschool. I remember telling her teacher that I had selfish reasons for putting my daughter in preschool. The teacher asked why, and I told her because now my daughter will make me something for mother's day! She laughed at that, and I received a beautiful craft with my daughter's small hands on it. It is the greatest thing in the world to be a mom!
ReplyDeleteMy most memorable mothers day was my first as a mother. It was sad but also very special.
ReplyDeleteMy son was due May 13th but was born February 8th. He spent 79 days in the NICU and then moved to the special care nursery just before mothers day but was still in a humidcrib.
For mothers day we all went out for dinner for my Mom and my mother-in-law then afterwards we took them to the hospital where we had arranged for them to have their first cuddle with their first grandson. When we got there we were thrilled to see that he had finally moved to an open cot which was one of the requirements for him to be able to come home. The grandparents all got cuddles and so did my brother but I had the flu and had to stay outside. It was really sad not to be able to hold my son on our first mothers day but it was special that we could arrange that for his grandparents and his uncle.
A week later he came home :) 3 months old and nearly 2 kilos!
My brother left the country first though and we haven't seen him since so he only ever had that one cuddle :(
This mothers day will be my first with my second son and this time I'm going to get cuddles from both my boys!
