News, Challenges, Sales, ....

I told you that I had a bunch of stuff to share with you this weekend so get ready for a long post. First off, I have made the decision to be an exclusive designer at Scrapable. This was a difficult decision for me because I wanted to remain loyal to the first store that gave me an opportunity to sell my designs but I simply did not have the time to devote to 2 stores due to our personal business taking up more and more time. The offer to be exclusive is a good opportunity for me to shift gears and do a little less juggling and will hopefully give me a little more time to design and learn from other designers through store collaboration kits and forum participation, which was not part of DigiScrapShop. To celebrate this good news, I decided to have a huge sale starting tomorrow June 1st through the 7th with everything in my store being 50% off. In addition, since I am now an exclusive designer, I decided to jump in with both feet this month so I'm hosting 2 challenges that I think will be a lot of fun. The first one is called Lazy Day Challenge and it works like this. I have selected a completed layout from our gallery at Scrapable and I will challenge you to scrap a layout in the same style but with your own personal touches. I've already completed my layout to get people started. Wanna see?!I was fortunate to have one of the designers at Scrapable let me use her kit to complete my layouts. It's a really fun kit from Spinky Dink Scraps titled "Spinky Spanky." Here's the kit preview. I love the bright colors, textures and acrylic elements that are included in this kit. If your interested, the preview is clickable and will take you to her store. Now the other challenge that I am hosting is a new one called Island Manuscript and it's right up my alley because I'm addicted to fonts. This challenge is going to be fun! Here's how it works. I give you a font and challenge you to use it on a layout. Sounds easy right! But I'm going to challenge you to use this font as much as possible on your layout, which could be a little tricky because the font I have chosen is fun and funky. I've completed a layout for this challenge as well. Can you figure out which font I'm using in the challenge? So since I'm hosting these 2 challenges, I thought it would be a perfect time to introduce another blog contest. Are you ready for another contest? This one is going to require some work. I would love to have you participate in 1 or both of the challenges I'm hosting at Scrapable. So here is what we are going to do:

  1. You participate in 1 or both of challenges I am hosting
  2. Let me know you participated because I might not recognize you
  3. I will gather up all the layouts and post in a slide show here on this blog
  4. We will then vote for our favorite layout
  5. Winner will receive a store coupon for 1 free kit of your choice
If enough people participate, I will orchestrate a vote on each challenge thus 2 winners, otherwise, we will just combine them all into 1 big contest. These challenges run the whole month of June so you have plenty of time to get in a layout. Here is the thread for forum. Under Island Challenges and Contests you will find a thread for each challenge. Simply look for either Lazy Day or Island Manuscript and I'll have all the instructions and the download link for the font we will be using. You have to register in order to participate but registration comes with it's own rewards so it's worth the effort.

I have one more thing to show you. Tomorrow we have a new store
collaboration kit schedule for release titled "Pink Punk'in" that is really cool. This kit will sell for $6.00 and with each purchase you are then eligible to receive one of our other store collaboration kits absolutely free. If I were you, I would pick the "One Kit For All Families" collaboration as my freebie because it is mega-sized huge. Here are the previews for Pink Punk'in.

Oh hey, I almost forgot. What do you think of my makeover? I decided to freshen up a bit and get rid of a few things, update a few things and do some general house cleaning. Now if I could just find the time to do this for myself.

Don't forget -- 50% off all week long at Scrapable. I'll be back tomorrow with a quick freebie.

Friday Freebie at Scrapable

I believe I have shared this with you before but every Friday at Scrapable, one of the designers offers a Friday freebie for our forum members and tomorrow it is finally my turn. Yeah! So I decided that with Summer right around the corner to design a Summer Lovin' wordart pack as my freebie. If you haven't been to our forum yet, you have to register then visit the download area in order to snag this freebie, which will be exclusive to Scrapable. When you register, please use my userid as the referral, which is KWinters and make sure you fill in your birthdate because when your birthday rolls around, you'll receive our Birthday Collaboration kit free. You can find the forum here.

In addition, if your interested in our free desktop calendar, you can snag that also.

The Talent to Play

I've been so busy with my real job that I've been neglecting my blog. Shame on me! I hope everyone had a nice Memorial Day weekend. My hubby and I had today off after being busy for several weeks so we took advantage of the day and decided to kick back and do something fun. We went to an afternoon movie to see the new "Night At The Museum" flick, which was pretty good. If you saw the first one, you'll like this one just as well. I whipped up a little freebie for you tonight and since I can't seem to put the crayons down, I jazzed it up a little. So I'm offering both the decorated and plain version of this wordart.Enjoy! Oh, Heidi Rushing, if stop by to snag this freebie, contact me via email because you won the "Name This Kit" contest and I would like to get you the coupon code. Have a good evening.

New Kit Release Day

Hi guys! Here are the preview images to five (5) new kits being released tomorrow (05/22/2009) at Scrapable. Remember, all new releases store wide at Scrapable are 25% off on Fridays and Tuesdays so stop by and check out our new look and browse all the new offerings.
This last preview is a set of wordart I created using a really fun kit titled "Cowboy Up" from Laurinda's DigiScraps. Laurinda is a fellow designer at Scrapable and if you haven't discovered her yet, you should really check her out. I only used a few elements and papers to create this wordart but the full kit is packed with fun stuff to scrap your little cowboys or cowgirls.

Here's the previews to Laurinda's full kit.
I also wanted to show you Laurinda's new kit. It's so fun and bright and cheery. Perfect for all kinds of layouts.
And Laurinda has created this really cute quick page that she's offering on our blog at Scrapable. If you click on the image, it will take you to Scrapable's blog. You can also visit her personal blog here and leave her some love.

We Have A Winner!

OK this was harder than I thought it would be so I enlisted the help of my hubby and after much deliberation, we decided on, drum roll please, "Coloring Outside The Box." Congratulations Heidi Rushing, you had the winning suggestion. Yeah! Shoot me an email, Heidi and I'll give you the details on receiving your free kit. For everyone else, I really appreciate everyone's participation and I will definitely do this again. Here is what the final kit preview looks like and I also whipped up a decorated version. Both of these kits will be available this coming Friday at Scrapable. In addition to these (2) two kits, I also have (3) three others that I'll post the previews to on Thursday. Scrapable has gone to a new release day schedule every Tuesday and Friday with all new releases being 25% off on those days. Have a great evening.

Awesome Title Suggestions

You guys rock! I've got so many suggestions for the title of this new kit and they are so unique that I'm going to have a tough time selecting one. We will definitely be doing this more often. I will have a decision by tomorrow (Tuesday) because I am shooting for release of several new kits on Friday and they will all be 25% off that day only. I'm also planning on a decorated version of this kit we are in the process of naming so I'm getting out my crayons and trying really hard to stay in the lines. (lol) Someone suggested that I also include the word "color" as "colour" for those regions of the world so I'll include that as well. Keep those suggestions coming.

Time For A Blog Contest and a Freebie

I decided today as I was putting the finishing touches on several new kits that it was time for another blog contest. Sound like fun? So here is the deal. I've been wanting to do a WordArt pack for the longest time that would compliment the photos of your budding artists. I used to love to color when I was a kid and there was nothing better than a fresh box of crayons. Coloring is the inspiration for this kit but I need help naming it. Here is the preview image. Take a look and then suggest a name for the kit. I'll gather up all the suggestions and pick a winning title. The winner will receive a coupon code to purchase the kit for free from my store. I'll make a decision Tuesday night so put your thinking caps on because I'm looking for something catchy. The other reason I wanted to design this WordArt pack is because I have these cool layered styles from Bannerwoman titled "Crayon" that I haven't used much but I've been dying to color with them so I played around with one of the designs and I'm giving it to you tonight as a freebie. I'm looking forward to your suggestions!

$1 Wednesday and a fun little site to visit

First off, I wanted to thank everyone for all their comments on my blog train contribution. Even though the train kind of fell apart, I still wanted to offer what I had made and I'm so happy that you all expressed an interest in downloading my part. So thank you! I really do read all your comments both in the Cbox and with the individual postings.

Second, I just wanted to remind you that today is the final day to snag the Mother's Day collaboration kit at DigiScrapShop for free if you spend over $5.00 in the store. All the information and coupon code is in the banner up top and the individual posting below. And remember, if your cart contains at least one (1) of my products, I'll get you my add-on for free all you have to do is email me the order number.

Also, tomorrow is $1 Wednesday at Scrapable and I've included six (6) of my kits that I will be retiring soon so this will be your last chance to own them for as little as a dollar. Here's a preview of what I've included. After tommorow, I'll be marking them down and offering for only a few weeks at a reduced price and then they are out of here. Time to make room for some new stuff I'm working on. Like our new look? We've gone beachy!
The last item of business is something fun that I ran across on Gunhild's blog. She gives out great CU goodies for us every week along with tips on other fun stuff she runs across in her Internet surfing and I decided that this was just too cool so I had to share it with you. There is a site called, PhotoFunia that enables you to pop a picture into a premade image and then save to your computer. Here's a couple that I did of myself. I like the one in the middle the best. I've been to both New York and Chicago and this image reminds me of strolling back to the hotel after taking in a broadway show. They also have a cool one with a graffiti artist spray painting your image but the only picture I had handy, this one, wasn't right for the image. Anyway, check them out, you'll have fun experimenting with all the different images.

Blog Train Update

There have been some events that have happened over the past week or so in our digi scrap community that I don't begin to understand but they have snowballed into something that I felt it necessary to withdrawal from the scheduled blog train at Digi Towne Square.

However, if you found your way here dispite that I don't want to disappoint anyone so I have repackaged my preview and zip file and will offer as a simple freebie from me to you. This was designed with a certain color scheme in mind but three (3) of the wordart pieces also come in a plain version as well.
Please accept my apology for the last minute change of plans. My original posting minus the preview is below if you wish to follow the train but I cannot guarantee how many stops are still viable as I know that other designers have backed out as well. Please click on the image to download.

Happy Mother's Day (Weekend)

First off, I want to wish the Mother’s that follow my blog a Happy Mother’s Day weekend. My hope for you is to be pampered and adorned by those who love you because being a Mom is an important role in life. That being said, I promised you some wonderful surprises this weekend and I gave you a sneak peak several days ago of something special we have planned for Mother’s Day weekend at DigiScrapShop. So I'm now ready to reveal all the great things I have for you this weekend.

The designers put together a collaboration kit titled, “A Mother’s Work” and it is filled with 55 papers, 130 elements and 5 styles that will be available this weekend only, May 8–12, 2009, for FREE with as little as a $5.00 purchase in the store (coupon code is DSSLOVESMOMS and I believe you need to add the kit to your shopping cart and then apply the coupon). How cool is that! Most collaboration kits require a $10.00 purchase but we wanted to make this affordable for Mother’s Day weekend in order to celebrate Mom and everything she does for us. This is the preview of the entire collaboration kit:

And this is the preview to what I contributed to the collaboration:

Now because you guys have been so supportive of my designs, and me, I've decided to sweeten the pot by giving you a chance to get an add-on for free, if your shopping cart contains at least one (1) of my products. Remember, I have four (4) new WordArt packs for Mother's Day that would go nicely with this collaboration. Simply email me and let me know your order number and I will provide you with the link to the zip file. Here is the preview to my add-on:

Now if that were not enough, I’m also participating in a blog train starting tomorrow, May 8, 2009 that is filled with some really great stuff. Some wonderful designers have generously volunteered their time and talent to put together this blog train in order to bring attention to a new forum called Digi Town Square. This forum is quickly growing into a little community where you can find contests, freebies, RAKS, information on various sales through out the digi community, member galleries, product galleries and so much more. Here is the preview to my part of the train, which you can download by clicking the image.
