National Scrapbooking Day Info and New Products

This is going to be a long post ladies because I have a lot of information to share with you. Ready, here we go! Saturday, May 2nd is National Scrapbooking Day and we are celebrating in a big way at Scrapable. The NSD Sale will be 50% off store wide from today through Sunday, May 3rd! Woo-hoo! And in addition to the great discount, if you purchase over $10.00 in merchandise, you will receive our May Collaboration Kit for FREE. Yes, I said free and it is MEGA sized! These are the previews to the paper pack and elements and I because you can't see much of the WordArt I contributed to the collaboration, I'm going to show you my individual preview as well.I went all out on the WordArt because we wanted to make the kit as versatile as possible. This preview doesn't even show all WordArt (24 pieces in all) and according to my count there are 80 pieces of paper and I believe 260 elements. Now, if you want an opportunity to win this kit absolutely free without purchase, Scrapable will have several opportunities on Saturday for some lucky winners to receive this collaboration.

At 6pm CST, we are running a "Name that Kit" contest. What's name that kit you ask? Well, it's pretty simple. Register and login to the forum here. You will then find a thread for National Scrapbooking Day and then Events. The way the contest works is, you will be given a color swatch and then asked to look through the store to find the designer kit it matches. First one to post a match, wins a collaboration kit. As soon as a match is made, another colors swatch will be presented. Sounds like fun! The plan is to give away as many as possible in 1 hour. I'll give you a hint on strategy. Have two (2) windows open so that you can go back and forth quickly between the store and the forum without having to hit the back button so many times. Time is of the essence! Good Luck!

There will also be a Sea Shell Hunt. Sea Shell products will be hidden in the store and the first two (2) people to guess the correct number of sea shells wins. I believe this one runs all day. And if you like Speed Scraps, we've got those going on as well. So many opportunities to have some fun, shop, and win the collaboration for free. So surf on over to Paradise and join us for all the fun.

Since we're having such a great sale, I should probably offer you something new to tempt your pocket book. Here are the previews to my four (4) new kits all inspired by Mom.

This WordArt pack "Celebrating Mom" is available in both a plain version and a decorated/embellished version. The decorated version of this kit contains 21 individual png files all ready to add to your layouts.

I also have one titled "Motherhood" that is available in both a plain and decorated/embellished version. The decorated version contains 14 png files ready to add to your scrapbooking layouts.

And here's another goodie. As long as your going to be in the forum having some fun, the May Desktop Calendar is ready for download.

One more thing, I feel like I need to reward you after posting such a long message! I'll be back tomorrow with a special freebie to celebrate National Scrapbooking Day.

I'm finally finished designing for Mother's Day. Woo-Hoo! Tommorow I will be adding 4 new products to both stores and will post the previews here as well. I also have A LOT of information to give you for National Scrapbooking Day, May 2nd that you're going to want to hear because we have a lot of fun and a really big, I mean really HUGE sale happening at Scrapable. But I'll get you all that information tomorrow as well.

Now it's on to the freebie! This is a slightly different version of one of my new wordart designs that I played around with for a freebie. Actually, it's three (3) freebies because, I'm going to give you the plain version, the embellished version, and the embossed version that I used to put it all together. I would love to see what you can do with that embossed version. Time to get creative!
This is the full version with an embossed top.

Contest winner and tonight's freebie!

It's time to reveal the winner of our little blog contest. My plan was to read all of your thoughts and special memories surrounding Mother's Day and then enlist my husband to read them as well and between the two of us, we would come up with our lucky winner. Well, they were all very nice and we had a hard time deciding on just one so I decided that since only a few of you played along, EVERYONE will win this first blog contest.

What I need you to do now is email me so I can provide you with the link for the prize. Thanks for playing along. I'll have another contest again soon.
Now on to tonight's freebie. I've been working on a store collaboration kit that revolves around Mother's Day and I had hoped to give you a sneak peak tonight but I'm not quite finished. My brain is a little fried from working with the word "mother" all day but I managed to whip up this little freebie.

Show and Tell Time

Just a reminder that there is still time to add your special Mother's Day memories to our little blog contest so make sure you get them posted by Sunday evening when I'll pick a winner. Come on ladies, don't be shy, we're all friends here.

Now on to the show and tell portion of this posting. Although this has been added to the guestbook for everyone to enjoy, I wanted to put a spotlight on it and say thank you to Xashee for sharing it with us. Xashee is a regular follower to my blog and apparently I inspired her with my butterfly layout last week because she created this wonderful layout using Kim B's "Spring Blossom" kit along with a few of Kim's CU products and my WordArt freebie. She did a nice job of personalizing the WA by adding colors to match Kim's kit. Now see how easy it is to take something plain like this freebie and turn it into something wonderful. Thank you , Xashee for sharing it with us. I love it when you guys show me how creative you can be.

I'll be back tomorrow with a new freebie and I'll give you a sneak peak at a store collaboration kit that I am working on for DigiScrapShop that will be available for Mother's Day. It's going to be sweet!

To Be A Mother freebie and a fun contest giveaway!

I've been so busy creating some new WordArt for Mother's Day that I didn't realize that it's been a week since I posted to my blog. Shame on me! So here I am with another freebie and a challenge for you all. I've been doing some thinking that it might be fun to start having some blog contests in order to engage you a little more because you are either A) a very quite bunch or B) your shy so it's time spark some lively conversation and your creativity.

Some of the ideas I have for contests are:

  1. Name The Kit - I'll post a preview of a new store kit, you help me name it and you get a store coupon to purchase the kit for free

  2. Creative Activity - I'll give you a piece of WordArt from a new kit, you use it in a layout, provide a preview, the winner will get a store coupon for the entire kit for free

  3. Theme Usage - I'll post a blog freebie with a theme, you share a comment that corresponds to the theme, the winner will get a version of the freebie in several different colors/styles

  4. Participate in Scrapable Challenge - When I host a challenge at Scrapable, you participate, I'll share your layout here on my blog, we'll vote on a winner, the winner will get a store coupon for a free kit of your choice.

  5. WordArt Pack Design - I'll open up a discussion for you to suggest a theme pack, the winning idea will be used to create a WordArt Pack, the winner will receive a store coupon to receive that kit for for free
So my first contest, will be Theme Usage and revolve around Mother's Day. I am not fortunate to have a close relationship with my own Mother and I was not blessed with children of my own. It's OK, don't feel bad for me, I have a wonderful relationship with my step-Mother so it's all good. What I want you to do is share with us your best Mother's Day memory. Do you have a special memory of something your kids or husband did for you? Or maybe you have a special memory of something you did for your mother? Share it with us and you could win this decorated version of tonight's freebie in six (6) different colors using Bannerwoman's Glitter Stickers Light. Sounds like fun right?
Here is a preview of tonight's freebie. If you have any ideas for other contests, let me know.

One more piece of business. Today is $1 Wednesday at Scrapable and this kit by Stacey Crossley is included among others. I thought in honor of Earth Day, it would be perfect for your Earth Day layout so I thought I would share the preview. We bought a tree to plant today so if I get the time, I'll post some pictures and maybe even a layout with this great kit. You can see all the $1 Wednesday offerings here.

Butterflies In Bloom

I was bad! I waited till the last minute to get both our personal and business tax returns ready but in my own defense, I knew we we're not getting a refund so ... you know, I dragged my feet a little bit. Now after spending two days, pouring over receipts and crunching numbers, we decided that we needed to do something fun. Yesterday we went to Dow Gardens, which is about 1/2 hour from where we live and checked out the Butterfly Exhibit in their conservatory. Dow Gardens is on property that was owned by the founder of Dow Chemical Company and has now been turned into a beautiful place to enjoy the day with walking trails, waterfalls, beautiful gardens, the conservatory, and so much more. Anyway, every year they bring in exotic butterflies and let them flutter around the conservatory, so you can get an up close experience. It was really beautiful. My hubby took several snapshots so last night I worked on a layout and of course, I needed to adorn it with some Wordart so I created the following and I thought I would offer to you as today's freebie.

Here is the layout I created with some of our butterfly pictures. I used Carla Holf's Tranquility kit which can be found at Scrapable. Have a great day!

Box.net Bandwidth

I'm sorry I didn't catch this sooner but I've been buried under tax forms for the past couple of days -- nothing like waiting to the last minute. Taxes are done now, yippee! Apparently I exceeded the bandwidth at Box.net, probably with my last freebie which was contained in a zip file. If you had trouble downloading "Hippity Hoppity Easter" due to the bandwidth problem at Box.net, I've corrected the problem by moving that zip file over to 4shared and the image link has been updated on that post. Thank you Melody for letting me know.

I'll be back later to share a freebie. Have a great day!

Hippity Hoppity Easter

Hello! Hope everyone had a Happy Easter! I have a little Easter freebie for you tonight. I played around and then decided that I would offer you both a decorated version and a plain version along with some bonus Easter eggs. How's that for a freebie?

And don't forgot, my Buy 1 Get 1 Free offer ends at Scrapable tonight so don't miss the opportunity to get both Easter and Spring WordArt packs at a great price.
Do you want to see something cute? I came across Raspberry Road's Pampered Pet kit a couple of weeks ago and finally got to play with it today. For all you Dog and Cat lovers, it's a really cute kit.

Easter 2009

I saw something in my Scrapbooks etc. magazine today that I thought would be fun to recreate and put my spin on; a challenge if you will. I love a challenge! I made some Easter colored polka dot papers and clipped them to my letters and then I used an action from Atomic Cupcake to make my acrylic easter eggs. I then decided that using one of Bannerwoman's felt styles on the letters would look nice also (love her stuff) so I ended up with two versions. Since I can't decided which one I like best, I'm offering them both as a freebie. I hope you like them and I would LOVE to see what you can do with them. Please don't be shy, share your creations.

Fuzzy Bunny

So no one wants to take me up on my It's All About Me Challenge at Scrapable? Come on, it's fun! If you like templates, we also have a Map Quest Challenge every month that provides you with a free layout template and all you have to do is create a lei-out using the template. This one was created by our store owner, Jeanye - she's the host this month. Isn't Stitch a cutie! Hey, does that WordArt look familar, oh yeah, that's mine! Shamless plug!

I'm updating my post from last night to show you my take on the Map Quest Challenge. It was really easy. I just download the free template and started to play. This is the same kit, I used for the It's All About Me Challenge (Carla Holf kit Darling).
Anyway, I have a little freebie for you tonight. I snagged a freebie from Bannerwoman yesterday that I just had to play around with. It's a layered style called "Glittered Foil." Of course, I love a little bling-bling and I thought the foiled aspect gave it a shimmery quality. So, I hope you like it. I tried to pick all pastel or Easter colors so that it would compliment other Easter kits you might possess. Enjoy the freebie and please leave some love. Ever since I switched to Box.net for downloads, I'm not getting many comments here on my blog and I so love to hear from you guys.

Friday Freebie and a Challenge

Hi gals! Quick post to past along some information. If you have not taken the time to register in the forum at Scrapable, I'm going to give you two tempting reasons to surf on over and have fun with us in Paradise.

First off, if you like to participate in challenges, I'm hosting the "It's All About Me" challenge for the month of April. I'm looking for willing victims to play along and create a layout that shows us how you pamper yourself. Sounds like fun, right! Here's my layout to get you thinking. Also, tomorrow is Friday and that means we have a Friday freebie and this one is too tempting to pass up. Miss Erin from Miss Erin's Scraps has put together a wonderful kit with 10 papers and 33 elements and I have a sneak peak for you. Looks tempting doesn't it?
